I mean any thought... this was a question posed in my philosophy of the mind class, and I'm still searching for an answer (if there is one). I've been pondering it for quite some time, can't seem to have a thought that can't be described as either a belief or desire.

Funkydrumz....

I noticed when I registered and also when I posted that the action buttons (I would assume they should be labeled "preview" & "Post" at the bottom of this posting window) have no labels. Might want to fix that.

I'm pretty big on individualism. I don't believe in individualism through clothing and your appearance if it is what makes you an individual. (kinda short, but if you want I will add, not sure if that is hitting your exact thought for this thread though)

I no longer desire the apple for I have eaten it and my appetite for it has been satisfied-
i guess though on some metaphysical level I can never be sure that what I ate was in fact an apple- In that case then I suppose that this would be categorized as a belief since I believe that what I ate was indeed and apple.

Or maybe when I refer to the "apple" I am not speaking of a physical apple at all. Maybe it is a metaphor for some type of sinful behavior I just engaged in- if that were the case then again this would fall into the belief category. Since i must have some set of moralistic values that I "believe" to be meaningful, and thus rendering my said behavior as "sinful" -- not only that but in referencing the biblical account of the fall of man I have also admitted that I "believe" what the bible claims to be true.

or... maybe the apple is a freaking apple - i ate it and the thought occurred to me that i ate it... either way i have enjoyed spending this time typing and not working.

Motivations

Postby swordsman22 on Wed Mar 04, 2009 6:12 pm

Every human action is motivated either by the desire to gain reward, or the desire to avoid punishment.
